Festival de Corales Sea Pictures’07, Santiago de Compostela
Together with the company Nimrod Festivals, goES Travel organised the first International Festival of Choral Singing (Sea Pictures) which took place 26th to 28th October 2007 in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain.
This is a festival open to amateurs choirs from all over the world who, through their participation, have the opportunity to get to know other cultures sharing the same connection: Choral music.
Music doesn’t have barriers or frontiers and the Sea Pictures Festival makes this clear managing to unite voices of different origins under one musical score.
The participating choirs enter into the spirit of the festival to enjoy the music and live a new experience without wanting to compete between themselves.
In the first festival, the Sheldon Singers and London Forest from England took part, as well as local choirs A Xuntanza and Polifónica La Salle.
The festival took place under the artistic direction of Ronald Corp, a recognised director who also conducted a master class for each choir.
Collaboration with the official bodies is the common denominator in Festivals and Concerts organised by goES Travel. In the 2007 Sea Pictures festival that body was Santiago Tourism. It´s interesting to note that between each concert choirs had the opportunity to participate in the Pilgrims Mass in the Santiago de Compostela cathedral as well as the big final concert in the San Agustin church.
The location for this year’s festival is El Vendrell in Catalonia the city where maestro Pablo Casals was born, one of the most prominent violinists, internationally recognised as one of the best musicians and orchestral directors of his time.
